Thnx for the feedback guys. I've added another variation which I had in the pipeline - just playing around with the color scheme. I wanted the second version to look like it was actually written with a pencil, without going to cursive.

Also, I'm just knit picking here, but wonder how it would look with a more "crisp" type? Just a thought :)

You know I played with the design quite a bit because I knew I was on a winner with this concept, but I kept sacrificing the shape of the fish. What suggestions do you have to refine it? I really want this one to be perfect.

Stellar, this is beautiful...but i do feel this needs a little more polishing before its ready...its some minor corrections but you could perfect this shape in no time...and when that happens this one is going to be a genius of a logo!

Thanks topfuel. I agree with you and the font I used is actually slightly slanted to provide that effect.

Thanks n0xi3, the difference is that it is two symbols in one. The main focus of this icon was the magnifying glass, it was just sheer coincidence that the resultant design formed a target symbol, which has been around a lot longer than the 'target'. It's amazing how much difference a small amount of negative space makes :)

This is kinda close to "Target".. It might be a little to similar just to keep you on the heads up. (www.target.com)

Overall great job though man, Font could use some variations i think but I dont mind this one all that much

I think the type and it's size is just fine..why have it compete with the strong icon. I might try it in italics for a feeling of motion.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys. I ended up with what I think matches the overall theme, so its a little fancy, but sexy!

Imokon, thanks for that link, very interesting and useful reference :)

n0xi3, I hear ya, s'pose that'd apply to golden arches and ticks as well?

Have you tried a font called Murga.. its not used to often but I think it might have kind of the effect your looking for... that is if you dont use all caps..

Also.. Stellar you should be fine... its not close enough that they would sue. And their not as bad as apple is. Try creating any logo with a bitten apple and feel the wrath.

Logo looks great, and aside from being "round" instead of "square" it really doesn't look anything like the City of Phoenix emblem.

Try this for inspiration: http://www.squidspot.com/Periodic_Table_of_Typefaces/Periodic_Table_of_Typefaces_large.jpg

If a font from the periodic table doesn't help try to cut and paste your own font from two or three fonts that you think blend well or have various elements you think click.

Thnaks for the positive feedback guys! I hear what you're saying about the type but I thought that a more prominent type might detract from the impact of the icon. I'll play with it a bit and try some variations.

Thanks for the springs and feedback. @THEArtistT - I have never seen that logo. Mine was created entirely from scratch and looks nothing like it IMO, except for the fact that its circular. I'm assuming this is what you're talking about http://www.acfan.net/images/center-logos/phoenixfac.gif

This looks a lot like the logo the city of Phoenix in Arizona uses. Like any government body they are sue happy. This is close enough they may give you trouble. Just FYI.

Nice! Lovely use of the circles. Like ethereal said maybe you should try a heavier and a stronger type. Eras ITC doesn't seem to fit an overpowering icon. But Honestly really cool job.
