I saw this one somewhere on net and some copies on 99designs and I thought that it's some huge new (web) company that I don't know about (which I doubted); so I've done some research (well, not actually, I stumbled here on it) and figured out that the brand is sold-able :) Simple and very professional. Preferred technology industry & outdoor companies.

Looking good! Only nitpick would be tight spacing against pretty big space between mark and type.

Nice logo. But how would this effect the design if another company name or acronym is used?

I think this would be a good fit for an outdoor company as well. You can add it to several categories, you should include it in technology too.
