Hey vox, only trying to help. I know that VID's avatar has been around for quite some time now, so I didn't want that to stir anything up. Didn't mean to offend you. Have a great day.
Hi, I noticed some friends commenting on your avatar. I wasn't sure if you were aware of it, but I immediately thought of VID's avatar on Logopond.com http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/76924 I think the association is there because you are using a similar idea, your name also starts with a V and only three letters, and it's a domino. Just something to think about. You have some nice designs on here, so you could benefit from a more original avatar/logo. Hope all is well!
My apologies, 38one. But that is the first time I've seen this design you linked too. Stairs are stairs. You cannot trademark a concept like that. If you position the designs on top of one another, they are surely different. I certainly commend the original designer for his/her incredible work.
The reality is there is no way for me to be aware of all of the logos, symbols, and concepts out there, no matter how high-profile the logos are. Sometimes great ideas arise simultaneously from several independent minds. In this case, that is what happened.
The logos will be used in completely different markets so I don't see an issue. I will continue to strive to create new and unique solutions to my greatest ability. But surely, this is bound to happen from time to time.
Great concept!! I too enjoy the sketchy quality. It works well for kids. Now with just a little refinement to the overall forms and some added bright colors and you have yourself a winner. Oh, and add some type. :-P
I agree, this is beautiful...especially in the gold and brown tones. But your future client is going to have some serious scalability issues. I don't think you'll ever see this engraved on any of their jewelry.
There's nothing wrong with it on the surface, but ethically, it just doesn't seem right. Oh well, good luck.
